FULTONDALE — After initially voting not to host a Veterans Day program this year because many flags and other items were blown away during the April 27 tornado, the local VFW has agreed to work with the city of Fultondale to have the annual ceremony.

On Friday at 10 a.m., Fultondale Mayor Jim Lowery will give a Veterans Day welcome address to guests at the Veterans Memorial Park at Stouts Road and U.S. Hwy. 31 in Fultondale.

The Fultondale High School band will play patriotic music during the event. Also, the Fultondale Fire Department and the Fultondale Police Department will be at the ceremony.

Wednesday's NJN states there will not be a Veterans Day ceremony in Fultondale this year: The city and the VFW organized the event after the newspaper deadline on Tuesday.

The public is invited to the event.
