Municipal Court

The Municipal Court office is located at City Hall (Municipal Building) at 1210 Walker Chapel Road, Fultondale, AL  35068, (205) 841-1430.  Municipal Court has jurisdiction over traffic violations and misdemeanor offenses.  Court sessions are held on the first, second and third Wednesday of each month.  On the first and third Wednesday, sessions are at 8:30 a.m.  and on the second Wednesday 12:00 p.m.  The session on the third Wednesday is for Trials and Hispanic cases (the court provides a translator during this session).

Many minor violations may be settled prior to the court date by payment of a fine in compliance with the established fee schedule.  If the fine is paid prior to the court date, a court appearance is not necessary.  A ticket may be paid in person at the Court Office during regular office hours of 8:00 a.m. until 4:30 p.m., online or by mail to Fultondale Municipal Court, 1210 Walker Chapel Road, Fultondale, AL  35068.  Mailed payments must include the ticket copy signed by the defendant on the back and dated.  Payments may be made using cash, certified check, or money order.  No personal checks are accepted.  Do not send cash in the mail.

Obtaining a warrant of arrest.  The Municipal Court magistrate may issue warrants of arrest on misdemeanor offenses.  The incident should first be reported to the police department and an incident report made.  The police officer may then refer the complainant to the municipal court magistrate or to the county magistrate if it is determined that the offense is a felony.  The complainant will be placed under oath by the magistrate and asked to give a sworn statement in writing.  Should the magistrate determine that there is sufficient probable cause that an offense was committed and that the person named committed the offense, then a warrant of arrest will be issued.  The complainant will be required to appear in court and to give testimony.  Defendants on misdemeanor offenses are allowed to make bail or bond according to the approved bail/bond schedule.

City Jail

The City Jail is housed at City Hall at 1210 Walker Chapel Road, Fultondale, AL 35068 in the Police Department area on the west end of the building.  You may obtain bond information by calling the Fultondale Police Department at (205) 849-5456 or Fultondale Municipal Court at (205) 841-1430,  Mail may be sent to inmates in care of the Fultondale City Jail, P.O. Box 699, Fultondale, AL 35068.

Jail visiting hours are Sunday and Wednesday from 5:00 p.m until 6:00 p.m.  Inmates may have only one visitor at a time.  All visitors must produce identification before being allowed to visit each time.
